TopicDon't most major college football programs now pay their head coaches even

A top few college coaches make more than the NFL average of $6 million but the vast majority don't. And the highest paid NFL coaches make more than the top college coaches.

But setting aside the money the NFL carries a lot more prestige and a healthy chunk of even famously successful college coaches flame out pretty quick when they try at the NFL level.

There is also the fact that NFL coaches don't have to deal with the college bullshit that college coaches do. You aren't out there buttering up high schoolers to join your program and all other sorts of recruiting. Of course the flip of that is the power dynamic is very different. You aren't coaching a bunch of unpaid kids, where your authority is absolute. You are coaching a bunch of millionaire adults, many making more money than you. The team can absolutely turn on you if you don't manage the locker room well and that's that. I mean look no further than the short-lived dictatorship, famed college coach Urban Meyer did when he coached the Jaguars.
