I HAVE played the whole trilogy, multiple times. He's still absolutely right.

Mass effect 1 is just as fetch-questy as 2, only with mako segments and a lot more time slowly fat-jogging through empty rooms/hallways. Both games have roughly 3 missions where actual interesting plot developments happen. The only difference is 2 focuses on individual character stories, while 1 spends two worlds focusing on dull corporate espionage crap that has nothing to do with the rest of the series.
