The animation style being flash like had a weird effect on me. I kept expecting fake outs in the gym fights, throwaway gag scenes to move the plot forward faster.
Years of conditioning made me really confident Weezing was going to come in, explode and Koga was going to go "Hahaha! Let's see you get out of this one! My trump card has self-destructed and bought you down from three to only TWO Pokemon! How are you planning to- Oh shit hold on a minute..." but he stuck with it and let the fight be a fight. I like that everything got an honest depiction.

Looking forward to Gen 2 Cinnabar Island. I always thought finding it destroyed and finding the previous game's final boss doing some out of character rumination was a memorable moment people don't really talk about.
Yeah, I can understand that, haha. It was nice seeing a flash-like animation not try too hard to cram a joke every 10 seconds. Hopefully, this inspires other people that like to animate like this to do the same if necessary.

Unfortunately, I hate to say this, but out of the first 4 generations, gen 2 is going to be the most lost on me. As a kid, I did beat the game (aka, beating Lance), but somehow, I never knew you could go back to Kanto. A whole chunk of the game that I just missed out on. I wish I still had my carts. I would go back and play it on my 3DS if I wasn't so scared, lmao. I'm extremely nervous that gen 6 and 7 have made me soft and the old games will beat me down.
