Sometimes I ask people who've played it how it holds up on repeat playthroughs and it sounds like a chore to replay.

so i think that criticism is somewhat misguided; repeat playthroughs mean you know where everything is so you don't have as much incentive to explore, and that's the main complaint people seem to have, but for me it means i can just get the stuff i need for a new build really quickly, if it's the kind of build i already know how to make (lol pure str).

it took me like two hours in ng+ to get to where i usually invade, which is at about 75% into the game. give or take.

my main (actual) issue with the game is that there's an awful lot of sparse. and no autorun; i actually ended up with a sore thumb for the first time ever with a video game.

but actually answering the question posed, in terms of souls games, it's like 1a and 1b to me, with dark souls 1 getting 1a because it was first.
