movie culture is 100% dead outside of the rancid cgi garbage out there.
A lot of movie genres shifted focus to Netflix and the like. There's not a huge benefit to seeing a comedy or a drama in a theater--I personally like having a full house to laugh along with, but for most people they just want to watch it for free at home. Comedies, dramas, and artsy indie shit make a lot more sense at home.

Big CGI visual spectacles in 3D with booming sound effects and high intensity music make a lot more sense as a theater experience.

I prefer the theater for every kind of movie, but audiences in general don't anymore. There's a reason recent attempts at drama and comedy films have mostly fallen short. It's because those movies get watched at home instead.
