I wouldn't even go to maybe 1/10th of as many shows as i do if i didn't live in Milwaukee and within 5 miles of both small venues that host a lot of local and small touring bands (Mainly X-Ray Arcade and Cactus Club), big halls that host Mid-Major touring bands (The Rave/Turner Hall) and the largest arena in the upper midwest (Fiserv Forum)

If i lived even 20-30 miles out into the sticks i doubt i would have even gotten into live music.

For me I gotta take a 45 min bus ride into the city and then get on the subway to get where I'm going. Although I have friends who live in the city so I can usually find a place to crash for the night and then go home in the morning. But even that feels like a hassle as I get older.

My drinking problem also factors into why I don't go to many shows these days. I don't have a lot of self restraint when it comes to drinking at shows and I get absolutely hammered. I always have a good time and I don't cause problems, but it got to a point where I don't remember shit.

There's been a few times where bands that I've been into for years came to Canada for the first time and I was super stoked to see them. I know that I was there, I know I had a great time, but I remember nothing of seeing their set.
