Last year I had to crawl out of a window to dig myself out of my house because the snow piled up on the door overnight.

My cousin lives near Labrador. When he was 15 he had to climb out his top window to get out and go to school, only to find out that school was cancelled and he was forced to stay there until the blizzard warning passed. For reference, he had a 3 story house. 2 years ago I had to replace the entire under carriage of my car because it froze to the ground. It took 3 full days to get my car out including a plow and ice breakers. Not a good weekend to be me. That same car had to be tossed that summer as the cost to keep it alive after that winter was too much. It actually got buried and all that snow froze. It was record snowfall that day. I forget the amount but it was some of the highest in Canada.
