And we have a trade

Giants receive:
QB Aaron Murray (88 overall, 29 years old)
Wildcats 1st round pick (20th overall)
Wildcats S19 4th round pick

Wildcats receive:
Giants 1st round pick (8th overall)
Giants 2nd round pick (40th overall)
Giants S19 2nd round pick

The Wildcats will incur a $4 mil cap penalty to shed a $7.98 mil cap hit

The Giants will assume a $5.98 mil cap hit

The Giants signed have had injured and poor QB performance the past two seasons after letting Ben Olson walk as a free agent. Among players with 1000+ passing attempts, Murray is 4th in career passer rating among active players and has 30 more TDs than INTs in his 5.5 years as a starter. For a team that saw its TE retire and the receiving corps pretty much down to a 34-year-old Jeremy Maclin, getting one of the best QBs in the league in the middle of his career should both provide an immediate boost in the passing game and aid in development of new WRs and TEs.

The Wildcats are under new management and wish to remake the team in their image. While Murray has been great for the team, he is arguably their best trading asset to clear cap space and add Day 1 draft picks to help install more talent and depth needed to get this team over the hump into the playoffs.

Both parties understood the trade parameters, the financial impact, the history of the player involved, and what each team hoped to achieve. This trade is now official.
