It's that most people are insufferable and toxic as shit when it comes to politics and in a setting that otherwise has nothing to do with politics, they don't want to listen to you rant about shit you have no intention of actually trying to change for 40 minutes and have you snap at them if you have any mild difference of opinion. Here's an idea, rather than getting on your soapbox to me or posting to strangers on the internet to make yourself feel important, go grab a picket sign, contact a local charity or organization that deals with what you're talking about and ask how you can help.
