This was expected to have the most viewers ever for a women's game and I think they wanted to mark it as a historical achievement that would be looked back on later a bit like how people talk about what Texas Western vs Kentucky did for the development of the men's game. Athletes do sometimes visit the White House even when they've lost the title.
