why would it have to be a word for word retelling? scenes can be expanded upon or excluded as necessary. lesser explored characters/concepts can be fleshed out with new material. earlier books can be adjusted to be more cohesive with the narrative as a whole (i haven't seen the movies and i only read the first book as a kid, but weren't the books still being written when the movies were being made?)

Hollywood already loves messing up every adaptation because everyone thinks they're take on the source material is best but then it ends up being crap. I'm told inner dialogue doesn't work well to turn into tv format but there's a lot of important stuff in the books that is conveyed this way.

But I also didn't say it had to be word for word I said the 7th book was entirely too long as the search for horcruxes took entirely way too long
