I prefer collecting regular gem stones like Opal and Rose Quartz and the like. Theyre much prettier to look at, though I can understand having a physical commodity that doesnt depreciate in value. I think Id get into super vintage items.. watches, guitars and stuff like that if I was going to actually diversify my portfolio lol.
Vintage items are cool, but for some, such as guitars, the issue starts to become space. Silver and gems are easy to keep in a box, not taking up too much room. Plus, I imagine there's more upkeep in those items than there is for natural metals.

And yeah, there are quite a few gems that are, unfortunately, not worth what kid me thought they should be, lol.
