NYC customer service clerk gushes verbal abuse at people who complained about city water bills

This is one customer service call-back New Yorkers dont need.

A call-taker at the city Department of Environmental Protection tracked down two people who had called to complain about their water bills and hurled verbal abuse and threats at them, authorities said Thursday.

Imma kill your f----- ass. You know I know where you live at, Lamont Jackson allegedly ranted July 12 to one shocked customer, court papers show. Watch when I catch you. You know I got your address. When I catch you, its on!

Jackson, a clerical associate in DEPs Customer Service Bureau, allegedly grew enraged with calls from two customers and called them back on July 12 to threaten and curse them.

In the first case, Jackson allegedly told one customer to submit their request in writing. After hanging up, the customer got a call from a blocked number, which investigators identified as Jacksons.

Jackson volleyed a series of curses and threatened to shoot the customer, the city Department of Investigation said.

Jackson then called back and left an even more threatening voice mail.

Jacksons supervisor recognized his voice in the voice mail, the Investigation Department said.

In the second incident, a caller dialed DEP customer service on Sept. 14 to register her complaint about her dads water bill and spoke with Jackson. Right after that, Jackson called back.

F--- you b----, he bellowed and hung up, city investigators said.

Jackson, 50, of the Bronx was charged with misdemeanor aggravated harassment. He also faces misdemeanor drug charges after cops found eight glassine baggies of alleged cocaine on him during a search.

Thats cocaine. Thats my stuff. Im using, Jackson told the detective who found the drugs, court papers show.

As charged, this defendants disturbing and harassing behavior is unacceptable under any circumstances, but particularly for a city employee charged with responding to questions from members of the public, city Investigation Commissioner Jocelyn Strauber said...

...The cranky call-taker made $34,720 in 2022 and has been employed in the post since 2017, records show. Jackson remains in the Customer Services Bureau, but no longer handles customer calls.
