It's not a pissing contest. You have something 5o lose, or you don't. That's the difference. If you rent, own nothing, work a job you can easily just get another like manual labor or fast food you have no skin in the political game or really anything to lose or protect from a financial standpoint.

This is a fact. It's an unfortunate fact, but it's a fact. When you accumulate worth of any kind, you instinctively protect it.

the actual numbers matter because its a matter of having enough money to live comfortably the rest of your life, which is a goal worth working for, and hoarding enough money to live in obscene wealth for thousands of lifetimes, which is immoral
