It's a good base for a sequel to improve on. This was basically my experience with it. Super janky, but fun with a likeable cast of characters. And yeah, some of the maps were so sprawling that a lack of fast travel made backtracking a chore. The final boss was bullshit though. I was playing on the hardest difficulty though, which didnt help. --- Still the number one reason for the success of the Internet.
