OVA episode also a lot of fun! now movie acquired, VN acquired (really wanted it on Switch but can't beat that discount), hopefully the platinum trophy requirements aren't super tedious. Will follow through on the order you outlined previously. I don't know how I feel about the S;G 0 cover art I've seen so far, it really looks super serious, I was picturing 24 episodes of light hearted slice-of-life-ishness but maybe that was a bad assumption to make! Interested to see what goes down there.
Altogether a great series and I don't know where I'd put it in my rankings but it wouldn't crack the eternal top 3 (LotGH, Monster, FMA:B) but it'll be in the top 10 somewhere. I definitely feel like I need to rewatch it, I'm sure I'll pick up so much more on the rewatch.
Still have outstanding questions that I wonder if S;G 0 will cover but probably not an issue if it doesn't.
-why does he have the "reading steiner" when no one else does? Really the #1 question I have, like I feel like we're owed an explanation for what makes him special...
-what's the deal with him realizing he changed world lines when he had the fever as a kid?
-the "70 million years ago" segment with him and Mayuri?
-I know it's implied that SERN is behind "FB" and the ensuing shenanigans but is it that simple? Why go through a convoluted extortion/blackmail route when you're (allegedly) a science lab? Is there actually some other "organization" out there in addition to SERN?
-Also SERN is still out there still trying to create time travel and sending gooey humans through time to their death would still exist in the final timeline too, right? still feels like their continued existence is a problem even if they're not aware of Okabe and company and haven't mastered time travel (yet)
-still not entirely clear how the phone microwave, or the combination of phone microwave + CRT tv turned on in the shop below, collectively functioned as a time machine, but I guess that's just how it was meant to be and I shouldn't think any further on it...!
Yup it's really neat how everything tied together! I didn't want to comment on the stuff you remembered from episode 1 and how it came back around to Okabe needing to recreate that all but yeah. Also shows how something as innocent as a metal uppa can change the fate of the world haha. Platinum is pretty easy to get. Think it's just getting all the endings and reading all the text messages of which I believe only 2 are missable? At least for S;G0, dunno about the original as I played that a couple years ago now. As far as S;G0 goes uh...yeah.
It follows the Okabe that failed to save Kurisu (so the one that appears in the video on the phone in episode 23) so he's not exactly the most chipper guy in that timeline and in addition to this being the timeline that leads to World War III as Suzuha mentioned and you've got the makings of a somewhat depressing time at points! But you certainly have your happy slice-of-life moments too for sure!
I can certainly answer your post-show questions too if you want since it might take you quite a while to get through everything. Heck, I didn't read S;G0 until this past winter and am just now going through the anime so yeah. But I'm also happy to let you ponder and wonder for as long as it takes you to get through it all haha
