Oh wow, so that would make the OVA the real last canonical installment of the "true" group? Feels kind of weird since it's not like a real sequel, but I guess all the characters are still the same, but it's almost like a Marvel "What If" nagging feel in the back of my mind, hahaha... well, going to be interesting! Then that also means there's no Kurisu right? Ideally this elevates Mayuri back to premiere leading lady status!!

Also lol @ the metal upa with Mayushii written on it, yeah. I had forgotten about the static video on the phone too. But very nice how it was all wrapped up.

Yeah it'd be one thing if I was doing the S;G 0 anime because I'd knock that out in a week but doing the game will take longer + I probably won't be starting it soon since I'll want to finish off the game I'm currently playing. Wouldn't mind any answers you're willing to give.
I'd say the canonicality of the OVA is dubious as well considering they meet someone who looks like Suzuha and it's implied that she is Daru's future wife but that is not the case as this is a plot point in S;G0. But you can pretty much handwave that away so the OVA is fine to consider canon. But correct, the last chronological bit of Steins;Gate is the end of the anime/OVA. But yeah, S;G0 is pretty akin to What If....though of course it's canon haha. And well there's still time travel/wordline shenanigans so I wouldn't necessarily rule out seeing Kurisu again.

-why does he have the "reading steiner" when no one else does? Really the #1 question I have, like I feel like we're owed an explanation for what makes him special...
-what's the deal with him realizing he changed world lines when he had the fever as a kid?
-the "70 million years ago" segment with him and Mayuri?
-I know it's implied that SERN is behind "FB" and the ensuing shenanigans but is it that simple? Why go through a convoluted extortion/blackmail route when you're (allegedly) a science lab? Is there actually some other "organization" out there in addition to SERN?
-Also SERN is still out there still trying to create time travel and sending gooey humans through time to their death would still exist in the final timeline too, right? still feels like their continued existence is a problem even if they're not aware of Okabe and company and haven't mastered time travel (yet)
-still not entirely clear how the phone microwave, or the combination of phone microwave + CRT tv turned on in the shop below, collectively functioned as a time machine, but I guess that's just how it was meant to be and I shouldn't think any further on it...!
-Well it's actually established that everyone has a bit of Reading Steiner. Like when Faris and Mayuri and the others had memories of the other worldline they just chalk it up to dreams or deja vu and whatnot. Okabe is the one who is aware though. This idea is explored a bit more in S;G0 though.
-Nothing really. It was just to note that it was the first time he probably experienced Reading Steiner. Which makes sense since it was during the year 2000 which was noted as a big time point. I always looked at it as the fever was so bad and that Okabe was on the brink of living or dying that his RS manifested when the world line changed but that's more of a personal theory.
-Nothing specific. I look at it as a warning really. Time is vast and goes both forward and backward and you don't really know what you're getting into messing with it.
-This might be a topic in S;G0 but I can't remember specifically so I won't comment on it.
-True but the D-Mail was a huge breakthrough for them and without that they're still chasing ghosts pretty much. Even a genius like Kurisu eventually decided that time travel wasn't possible until she met Okabe and the gang so I'd say it stands to reason that without a bit of guidence, SERN won't be capable of finding the key to time travel.
-Yeah you just gotta accept that "it works cause that's how the story goes" haha. Not like Interstellar where everything is based on actual science! Though it's possible the VNs go into more detail on how everything actually works but I'm not positive on that one either.
