In theory, if you can handle the boss gauntlet, you can probably beat BotW within 2-3 hours regardless of where you were in the game. You can just walk right in to the castle and go murder Ganon if you want, without doing anything else beyond the Great Plateau. I'd say that's not a great way to play the game, since you skip a lot of content that way, but if you aren't enjoying the rest of it then that's a moot point in your case.

Alternatively, just go for it and be excited for whatever you want. There are plenty of reasons to be interested in TotK even if you had issues with BotW, and you don't really need to let anyone tell you what to get excited by beyond tempering your expectations by reminding you of issues you'll likely have.
