The January 6th defendants in general have had laughably bad attempts at defenses in their trials. Many of them, including ones who were beating the shit out of police, have tried to say one or more of the following:
* I was just caught up in the moment
* I got caught up in the mob mentality
* The police attacked me first and I was defending myself (even with plenty of video evidence proving otherwise)
* I was actually trying to help/protect the police (even with plenty of video evidence of them attacking the police)

I'm not sure what Lamond has said in regard to this yet.

That one's my favorite because it's true. Not that it absolves them of guilt.
