To those of use who are not Americans it seems really fucking weird that you can take a bill that is about one thing (debt) and just add on something completely unrelated (porn ban).This is a product of poorly designed institutions. Virtually nothing can pass our federal government through ordinary means, making carveouts like reconciliation or the urgency of the self-imposed debt ceiling the only opportunities for legislation. Things that in a functional government might be voted upon and passed separately have to be lumped in under one bill or they'd just never happen. This particular instance is a crude weaponization of that process and unlikely to affect the final outcome, but --- Please don't be weird in my topics ... Copied to Clipboard! |
