I do think both of you are perhaps half right. Mostly people with really bombastic opinions get buried. But maybe half the time it's also because the opinion is half informed, or not at all.

This is true, if you don't reply when the topic is high on the Best list, you're mostly only seen by the person you are talking to.

And maybe a moderator.
