Not to mention see what is behind the target, and "for all I knew, they had a gun and were brandishing it" is NOT gonna fly. Throw the book at the shooter and bury them under the library. Stand Your Ground needs tighter regulations and people need gun training like most any other dangerous tool. Would you trust a drunkard with a nailgun or a lathe? What about a toddler with a drill? No? Same rule for guns.
