I went to the Toronto Zoo last year and they had the same policy around every primate exhibit, even the outdoor ones. A sizable number of people didn't listen, of course, because a sizable number of people are entitled dinglehoobities who would prefer to risk the lives of endangered animals than suffer 43 seconds of minor discomfort, and there wasn't exactly anyone enforcing the policy beyond having the sign up, but I was happy to comply. I believe they also had it for any feline exhibits, since cats (of any size) can also catch Covid and get very sick from it.

It was like 110 in his little hut too so it was pretty hot in my mask. I'd rather the sloth stay safe? He's only 16 and in captivity they can live into their 30-40s. This Wildlife reserve says they'd like to care for him so well that maybe he could become the oldest sloth in captivity someday. They take his care really seriously.
