I've lived in the Bay Area, so I'm well aware of the housing costs. Still, on a budget of $2000/month, you can find places to live alone, and you can probably find better accommodations for less money if you have roommates.

First, I dont consider living alone a luxury. Then you can always argue to get more roommates and just continually split the rentwhat 5 times?

2k isnt enough. You can rent off that, but mortgage is higher. Unless you want to live in the suburbs but who wants to do that

And I dont even think you can reach 2k budget for rent on 80k/year, especially not if youre contributing to retirement

For the record, my mortgage and HOA is 3k/month
