It's very different, math is difficult for people who have no deduction power.

Cooking is just trial and error. You just watch someone do it and repeat the process over and over again until you perfect it.

Math has rules, but variables are always different and people with no deduction power can't figure shit out. They're just good for stuff where you memorize everything and repeat it to death.
But cooking also requires deductive reasoning as well. For example, if you know that all cakes need eggs (general statement) and you want to make a cake (hypothesis), then you can deduce that you need to buy eggs (conclusion). Then there's also inductive reasoning, where if you notice that every time you add salt to water, it boils faster (observation), then you can infer that salt lowers the boiling point of water.

It's not just trial and error if you want to become a great chef.
