College is not purely for job training

Learning about art, literature, philosophy, etc. makes you a more-rounded human being with better critical thinking skills. It also makes you less likely to fall into political and religious zealotry
Philosophy also goes hand in hand with a lot of the history of physics. Political science is deeply intertwined with engineering, since what engineering projects get greenlit is 100% based in politics.

STEM majors that let their social science proficiency slip don't tend to make very good coworkers in my experience
