That's basically the long and short of it. The top percentage of writers/actors in the industry that make millions is abysmally small, the rest nearly struggle to get by. Residuals are abysmal especially for streaming (I've seen many say that the residuals they get are pocket change), and execs want to use AI as cost-cutting measures so they won't have to pay actors to use their likenesses. Their proposal was literally "if you agree, we get to scan your likeness to forever use you in our movies at a one-time payment of...say, a few hundred dollars."
