while a hefty amount of my irl friends have played a lot of aoe2 tbh (maybe unusually for my age i just was in a clique that was big on doing lan parties around 10 years ago and rtses happened a lot partially since i at least had bad laptops to use so FPSes were often out) but i gravitated mainly towards rise of nations instead

i think i mainly played aztecs/mayans/japanese/persians, not sure if i even played the later expansions at all even if we did do hd edition usually
