We know nothing about the state of the galaxy in the 30 years since the last movie. It also completely undid every accomplishment from the original trilogy. It tries to establish 3 main characters, gives them almost no screen time together, and sets them up to be split apart in the next movie. And I don't know what Rian was supposed to do with Luke. TFA established that Luke went into hiding after his Jedi Order was destroyed. What good reason could he have possibly gone into hiding while the Galaxy was in crisis?
