I've said like three or four times that most of what I'm talking about doesn't really apply to the case presented in the OP. The premise I'm stating is that if someone would die without food, then yes, theft is defensible. I'm not defending this case of theft, just the premise that theft can be justified.

The most obvious case examples are apartheid regimes (i.e. it is moral to steal from a government that is actively oppressing/trying to kill you) but these are less common than they were a few decades ago
