I believe ultimately it's because the HP bar + numerical value are more immediately intuitive as the game is a pretty fast-paced ARPG roguelite, so we chose something that's more readable at a glance. I just noticed this part of your write-up. Yeah, I can see why you'd prefer a readable number for an action game or something, but I do stand by the idea that hearts have more personality. --- Not changing this sig until I decide to change this sig.
