I always just assume the call volume message is a bullshit thing that legal told them to put in so that people don't complain about wait times.

Same thing with the options changing. I wouldn't be shocked if there was some study that showed that just saying that, even if the options never actually change, results in some sort of measurable decrease in the number of people who just mash zero immediately to try and get to an operator.
It's the worst! And why are some of the messages so looooonnnnng?
