Montgomery is a weird place. Went there on business once.

On the one hand, SPLC, Rosa Parks bus bench and MLK's church.

On the other hand, the "The Cradle of the Confederacy" was home to Jefferson Davis and the first Confederate White House, with a highway and high school still named for him. Robert E. Lee also has a HS. Nathan Bedford Forrest has several monuments. Edmund Pettus has a bridge - scene of "Bloody Sunday".

And dozens more Confederate monuments that all have long lines of visitors. The appreciation of the Confederacy is strong there. It was a major city in the Confederacy, the Confederate Postal Service was even based in Montgomery.
