Because he is a terrible person? Extremely pro-CCP to the point that he is a figurehead of the party, constantly did awful things to his son (made fun of him publicly, allegedly beat him, etc.), drunk drove and used his influence to bully the people he hit... He's just a giant sack of crap that stays in good graces in America because most people couldn't give a crap about what happens in China from the Chinese perspective. Less so now that he isn't making movies, but nostalgia is a powerful thing. He also got with a woman 19 years younger than him and completely cut all contact from her once he found out she was pregnant.
