I binged the entire series (aside from the two side games and Gen V) before 6 launched so I'm both an experienced vet and a pretty new fan at the same time.

This is just about the most story that an Armored Core has ever had. The games have a particular atmosphere and themes but until the PS3/360 generation they basically didn't have characters or story. So far 6 does a good job of having characters and a story without veering wildly away from what the series is like. I mean, this is pretty similar to Sekiro and Souls stuff in terms of how detailed and clear (as in, not) the presentation is.

I'm at the second named non-pilot boss and I've got like a dozen arm weapons, half a dozen back weapons, and 4-5 options for each body part. Comparatively quite sparse for what will be available later but so far everything seems either actually good or at least properly usable. In older AC games a lot of weapons are basically duplicates and/or trash or only useful for very specific fight optimizations. I've mostly been sticking to rifle > sword > shield > 4 shot missiles because I haven't been forced to rebuild yet but the options are appealing.
