Part of it was that he wanted to take down the corruption in Gotham and kill Falcone, yes. But Riddler also idolizes Batman and saw that he wasn't a cop, politician or anyone else who could be bought, so he orchestrated the entire crime spree as a way of meeting his idol while also deluding himself into thinking they were "partners".

The problem is that Riddler idolizes him for the wrong reasons because Riddler is an edgelord who just wants the world to burn for what happened to him and honestly, Batman (up until his character development) is really just a more restrained and disciplined version of that (likely due to Alfred).

I actually really like The Riddler in this movie because he basically represents the Batman fans who forget that Batman is supposed to be a superhero, and not just Punisher with less guns.

It sounds like my biggest issues aren't unfounded then.

As I said I don't want to argue those points but I'm sure the Riddler could have gotten Batman's attention just from killing Falcone and sullying the Wanye name even if the latter would've unintentionally gotten said attention.

It made the movie seem like a 2hr+ waste of time, the only thing that didn't have much to do with Falcone and exposing corruption was sinking Gotham (last half hour?) and Batman still fails to stop that.
It's fine that Batman loses but he basically lost everything. IIRC he's still supposed to be a noob but throw something positive at the poor guy. He may as well have stayed at home and done nothing. Worst case scenario he opens the explosive mail instead of Alfred and he comes out unscathed.

I'm sorry but it's just a bad movie. The acting is fine, the music was ok but the story was horrible. I'm glad that you and others liked it but it seems like you had to dig deep to find something positive about it.
