I'm enjoying it, it's a solid adaptation and as faithful as I think it could be, minus a few complaints. The budget definitely has gone on set design and not costumes and props, but it's mostly okay. I think they're being realistic and only aiming for two seasons, which would be a good place to end. And the changes so far (like more Garp and Coby) make sense if they're assuming they'll never get past Alabasta.
I disagree completely actually.
Garp and Coby don't have character arcs that get fleshed out at all through Alabasta. They really have to hit at least Marineford to have any real payoff for that focus. If you just wanted to go through Alabasta then Smoker is a far better recurring Marine to have chase the Strawhats. If anything, they're banking on many, many seasons to emphasize Garp and Coby like that.
