Aww fuck. Margaritaville was a karaoke staple. Dude just liked making stupid-ass songs about being white and trashy on the beach, it was goofy and I liked it.

He managed to leverage his stupid novelty vacation songs into a minor restaurant empire, there's a fucking Margaritaville casino and a couple of hotels. Dude did extremely well for himself, and I imagine he lived the last years of his life in comfort and peace.

This isn't a David Bowie event for me. That was the first celebrity death to really have personal stakes. But I'm certainly upset that the OG beach bum has keeled over after so long. Dude is the patron saint of Bermuda shirts and sandals, either in the heavy heat of a hot summer day or the frostiest peaks of winter. I'm sad that Jimmy Buffett is dead, and I hope if nothing else that his suffering was minimised.
