Unfortunately, the show's title is misleading and makes it sound like a show its not.

This right here is what really bothers me. It's like izombie, the title does not do the show any favors whatsoever and it's a damn shame. Before when people would talk about crazy ex gf I kept imagining this crappy uma thurman movie so ignored it for years, until one day I saw it on netflix and decided to play it in the background on a whim.

I had no idea I was in for a clever, witty show that could get surprisingly "real" about mental health issues, completely acknowledging some of the antics the character does as borderline, stuff that's usually passed on because "haha romantic comedy" type tropes.

And I really enjoyed the songs, as someone who's not really into music. Especially those rare times when I recognized what they were parodying, like the lala land drugs song. They're catchy yes but more importantly they tie into the story so well and fit perfectly, whether they're comedic or upbeat or what have you.
