Well I think it's important to remember Jessie's game got a remake and none of these others have (or ever will in certain cases). We'd probably have to wait and see if 8, 9 or 10 get remakes in the future to start wondering if characters that haven't made a contest yet would really make any noise. Expanded screen time/story, voicing and updated models go a long way. The only other chance of strength is meme status or circumstance, such at Ktjn's success. It's not really something that can truly be predicted well.

FF1: I can't imagine there's any untapped potential here. If the idea is to pick the strongest, then I just dunno. Former juggernauts who clearly relied on 8BT strength don't even make the contest, so any sort of power that would lend FF1 clearly is a product of a bygone era.

FF2/3: I imagine these games aren't ones most people have even played. FF3's remake was not well received; I feel like one of those characters made it once but then was booted? Not sure.

FF4: Yang's Wife, I guess?. For all the discussion about how, and it's been many many years now, she's never garnered interest in nominations. Typically if people think a joke is worth it, they wouldn't wait like a decade to pull the trigger on it.

FF5: No chance I can see.

FF6: ?????? has good potential, should it ever be allowed (I'd lean it should be personally but I can see the argument against). I feel like 6 is the first game in the series with a cast deep enough to support double digit entrants at once, but at the same time 6's days of being a powerhouse in SMFFFC are seemingly over. A lot of the best playable characters don't even make the game.

FF7: With the remake, you could technically have some potential here. Shinra staff or perhaps Biggs (though I feel like if people cared enough about his story arc he'd have been in by now. If he plays a bigger part in the next chapter, it's possible still though). Once the remake reaches other parts of the game you have potential out of people like Bugenhagen as well.

FF8: Without a remake any nomination is just another Fury.
