I don't see her being governor very much longer. The legislature in NM is run by Democrats, and her second term doesnt expire for years. I doubt she is very concerned. I do not know if her directive will stand up to Constitutional scrutiny-if I had to guess, I would say sadly that it wont. It is also largely performative, since law enforcement has mostly voiced a refusal to enforce it. I do know this-we have to start doing something drastic about guns in this country. Things cant keep going the way they are-there is too much gun violence in this nation. I am much more concerned about starting a real conversation about gun control in the state where I grew up than the slight inconvenience faced by gun owners. If this starts that conversation in one household, it was worth it. The way we look at guns in this country, especially since the Heller decision, is simply not sustainable for a safe and secure nation. --- An opinion does not turn into a fact simply because the person holding it feels strongly about it. ...
