I can't believe me not advocating for the death penalty is so controversial on this board.

Not a single person is born evil. These kids didn't just wake up one day and go "I'm gonna murder someone because it's funny".

They became this way due to circumstances. We need to find out what circumstances caused this and how we can prevent it in the future. Were they abused? Were they spoiled? Did no one instill any kind of values into them? Was it just a lapse of judgment in a moment of excitement? Or was it a malicious desire to harm someone? Are they just plain psychopaths with no hope for redemption? Questions that need to be answered.

As for the future of the kids, what good does it do to kill them or imprison them for life? Who does it help? All it does is satisfy a primitive need for revenge.

I'm not saying slap them on the wrist and send them back out. I'm talking years and years of psychological therapy and rehabilitation while imprisoned and then a team of professionals decide whether or not they are fit to re-enter society. THAT is all I want.

Yet I'm called racist and a troll for suggesting this, on this board of people that claim to be progressive.
