Nier Replicant V1.22 is the exact same as Gesalt and the regular Nier.
No, it's not. It has entirely remade and new tracks.

Like, for example, one of the best tracks of both: Shadowlord.

Another fantastic one: Kaine - Salvation.

Then there's the new tracks that appear in ending E and the extra chapter.

Trust me, they are very different. And incredible pieces in general.

The original Nier OST is superior to the remake

considering the remake used an actual orchestra, it's a shame how much better some songs like the Wretched Automatons arrangement from the CDs with the harsichord is than we got in game
I don't see one as superior or worse than the other, tbh. The new versions and arrangements are still very good, just different enough to stand on their own in their own ways. I love them all.

Something subtle the game does that doesn't often get attention is how most tracks have three variants so that the OST can seamlessly transition from calm scenery to tense moment to battle without ever having to hard reset the current track that is playing.
You can especially notice this during the more tiered tracks, or the songs that shift into others. Like Automata's ending E song, Shadowlord, etc. They will seamlessly shift between different intensities and still keep the tone perfectly.

The best in the industry in my opinion.

The soundtrack is what I remember most about OG Nier.
I've been wanting to replay it and Automata, maybe I'll just suck it up and get the remake and pretend that I'm still Papa Nier.
Treat it as a different experience entirely tbh. Like watching an alternate universe version of it. Keep your memories of the old one and build new ones with the new game.

You also get to see Papa in the formerly DLC segment, which is required to get all the endings!
