New York AG Letitia James brought a civil fraud lawsuit against Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, Ivanka Trump, Allen Weisselberg, the Trump Organization and other companies in New York owned by them, and others. The state is alleging that they have been persistently committing fraud for years. Things that have happened in this case prior to today:

• Ivanka Trump was dropped from the lawsuit by an appeals court
• Trump's lawyers forgot to request a jury trial within 15 days of the lawsuit's filing, so it's a bench trial.
• Judge Arthur Engoron ruled in the state's favor on the foundation of the case. There was overwhelming evidence of persistent fraud. The judge also ruled that the business certificates must be canceled. The prosecution and defendants have less than 10 days now to recommend up to 3 people to handle the dissolution of their companies.

There are still 6 allegations (I believe) from the lawsuit that need to be resolved via trial, so that process starts today.

Also, this is the relief the state is seeking:

• $250,000,000 fine
• Permanently ban Donald Trump, Donald Trump Jr., and Eric Trump from directing or officiating any company in the state of New York.
• Ban the Trump Organization from doing real-estate business in the state of New York
