I didn't even make the connection until years after I was hired at that company. A lot of Computer Science things are incredibly transferable unless you're stuck in webdev hell or are using very specific proprietary technologies, however Cybersecurity is not really an extremely specific topic within computer science that people need to invest a lot of time in to understand.
