It's been a long time, so I don't remember it too well, but I want to say the first half or so was like that, and then the second half became more story-focused. But yeah, if you've already read the VN then I'd just ignore it. Like I said earlier in the thread, I haven't experienced the VN myself, but anyone I know who has either loved the VN but didn't like the anime, or liked the anime but still rated the VN way higher.the reason the second half aka season 2 improved was cuz the writer himself had to step in to fix the issues season 1 adaption left that is why you felt it improved higurashi strong points is more in characters story instead of horror as it deals with their past and pains and trauma season 1 screwed over most of the characters storylines best moments but thankfully Ryu07 helmed season 2 --- "You can pretend to be serious; you can't pretend to be witty." - Sacha Guitry (1885-1957) ...
