37. Last Shift (Tubi)

I don't know why, but I've always been meaning to watch this one. The poster equal parts made me want to check it out and also not want to check it out.

Last Shift is about a female cop that's alone in a station, waiting to let in a haz-mat crew. But then some creepy stuff is happening around her.

So this stars Juliana Harkovy who I liked from the Arrow series (even though she was in the bad ones). She does a great job carrying this movie all by herself, because this movie is pretty much 100% her for the entirety of it. She's very easy to get behind here and she delivers a quality performance.

Aside from that, I thought the movie was kinda corny at first. Your typical "alone in a creepy place" movie. You've seen them before. But eventually, this movie just takes off entirely and becomes an unpredictable ride for the remaining duration as you piece things together. There's some imagery I think will stick with me because there are some very good ideas here.

I think the best part of this movie is definitely the climax to the ending though. When we get to the height of scares and then going through the aftermath of that peak, it's really damn good. The conclusion is great and really brings the whole movie together, I felt. Very satisfying ending.

What's weird is that this director remade this film recently for some reason. Kind of curious to check it out, but I'm not sure why he wanted to change this movie too much.

If you're looking for some kind of isolation movie, that brings some good scares and has a good ending, check it out!
