About that resolution to vacate the temp speaker: I thought the only thing they could do without a speaker, was voting in a speaker. Can they even pass a resolution to vacate the temp speaker? It is a privileged motion, which means it must be dealt with before anything normally part of the house actions. However one might consider voting for a speaker to not be "regular order" I suppose, meaning it cannot be superseded by a privileged motion as that takes precedence over regular order. https://sgp.fas.org/crs/misc/98-315.pdf I guess take a look at it for yourself and see what you see.
