Topic	Know what always bugged me? How unsafe american plugs/sockets are..

Well with the uk one, it has shutter inside, they prevent the plug/fingers from going in unless the top (prong?) is also in (which requires some effort). I've never heard of someone being electrocuted this way in the uk.
