Topic | AITAH for not paying for my sister's bday dinner when BIL accidentally paid? |
No_U_L7 10/24/23 12:30:09 AM #1: | per usual, for any bdays in the family our parents take us out for a big family dinner to celebrate
however, my parents are notoriously terrible tippers and will tip a max of 10% if they loved the service so my brother in law, who has worked in the service industry went to discretely pay for the tip however, when it came time to pay the bill, the server must have misunderstood because she said that my BIL has paid for the dinner already he said "I did...?" and i thought he was being sarcastic, but the look on his face made it seem like he was dying on the inside my sister later told me he only meant to pay the tip. the dinner bill came out to $300 after tip i felt awful. since my sister and BIL share a bank account, she essentially paid for her own bday dinner i guess it's true no good deed goes unpunished. i thought about venmoing them all of it or half, but i don't see why i should be punished for his mistake in communication with the server. my sister hasn't suggested that i should pay them, but i feel bad for them. i gave my sister $50 as a gift for her bday earlier in the day my parents weren't even appreciative, they just kept complaining that now they don't get the credit card points --- http://i.imgur.com/QPgN9 ...
